This EXPLORATORY COLLECTION moves through spaces suspended between presence and absence—windswept landscapes, abandoned interiors, and fleeting, quiet moments that exist at the edge of perception. These images are born from curiosity and attentive observation, capturing light, texture, and color as they reveal themselves in unexpected ways. Created with the fine art print in mind, the work invites pause, reflection, and a closer look at the subtle poetry of the world around us.
Nature, Abandoned Spaces, & Mood
I am drawn to spaces that feel suspended in time. Many of the images capture places with a liminal quality—thresholds, edges, and in-between moments where presence and absence coexist. Natural landscapes reveal subtle rhythms of light and weather, while abandoned buildings preserve traces of human presence and history. Mood is created through the interplay of these elements—shadows, texture, and the quiet tension between stillness and impermanence. Each photograph is a meditation on what it feels like to inhabit a place for even a brief moment.
One of the most notable images in this collection, SAND DUNES IN WINTER, was awarded the 2019 Minimalist Photo Award for landscape photography. Its quiet composition and attention to form exemplify the ethos of this series: simplicity, focus, and a deliberate use of negative space to heighten perception.

Exploration as Method
At the core of this collection is exploration. I follow instinct, moving through landscapes, interiors, and urban margins, photographing whatever captures my attention. There is no brief, no client, and no expectation beyond curiosity. This freedom allows me to experiment with composition, light, and perspective in ways that might not be possible in commissioned work.
My exploratory approach has been deeply informed by my time studying under Jay Maisel, whose emphasis on light, color, and gesture continues to shape how I observe and respond to the world. Through this mentorship, I learned to trust instinct, notice subtleties in form and tone, and embrace the interplay of chance and intention in creating meaningful images.
Through this process, the images become a study of how my eye engages with line, texture, and shape—how moments of beauty, decay, and light intersect naturally in the world around me. The work is attentive, patient, and intuitive, often finding interest in quiet, overlooked details that carry emotional or formal weight.

Fine Art Print Intent
These images are created with the fine art print market in mind. Each piece is designed to stand alone as an object of contemplation, where texture, scale, and subtle tonal variation can be fully appreciated. The collection reflects both a personal practice and a professional sensibility, bridging observation with a curated approach to presentation. Whether displayed as a single work or a group of related images, the pieces invite the viewer to pause and reflect on space, light, and form.

Style and Sensibility
Across the collection, I am attentive to form, light, and rhythm. Black and white remains a primary tool for distilling structure and atmosphere, allowing shapes and gestures to come forward without distraction. Color is used sparingly, often inspired by modernist and mid-20th-century pop aesthetics, highlighting mood, contrast, and compositional tension. In these moments, color is not descriptive but expressive, emphasizing texture, geometry, and abstract relationships within the frame.
This series, like my other personal work, is a laboratory for visual inquiry—a space where I can refine how I see and capture the world. Whether it’s the quiet sweep of sand, the weathered surface of a building, or the nuanced interplay of shadow and light, each photograph is both an observation and an exploration.
Ongoing Practice
My Exploratory Collection remains open-ended, evolving as my curiosity and travels continue. It is a record of moments, spaces, and impressions—an invitation for viewers to pause, reflect, and consider the beauty, stillness, and detail present in both the natural and built environment. It is a practice of attention, patience, and intuitive observation, capturing fragments of the world that might otherwise go unnoticed.
